Description

Diversity of India is displayed in all aspects of Indian life, and it surely reflects in folk music as well. There is a folk song for every occasion and emotion of life which is prominently displayed in every celebration, religious or any other activity of life. May it be a birth, naming ceremony, wedding or any other phase of human life, there is a folk song available for an occasion.

In this course, you can learn folk songs of your choice from the region of Gujrat and Marwad. There are many genres like Garba, Dandiya, Bhajan, Lagan Geet, Ghumar, Sugams sangeet, Maand, Panihari, etc. Learn to sing your favorite songs for an occasion, performance or just for fun.

This will be 4 weeks course (one class per week) and a teacher will be conducting lessons tailored to the needs of the student, once a week.

About the instructor

Kajal Visaria has been a professional singer for more than 8 years. Her singing technique revolves around good vocal techniques, having breath control and most importantly, feeling the song. She has been taught by her guru Hemanigini Desai, and has performed as a singer in many events. Being a Gujarati, she has good expertise in Gujarati folk, and she has rendered her voice in many regional Bhajans and songs.

Prerequisites

Student should have

  • Basic knowledge of all Swaras
  • Basic knowledge of Taals or Rhythm patterns in music
  • Should be able to sing and hold Swaras as per requirements of the song

  • Swaras and Layas required for the song
  • Singing in Rhythm of the song
  • Antara and Mukhada of the song
  • Singing as a hobby

  • Students will familiar with knowledge of Swara and Laya

  • Learn songs of their selection
