Description
The origin of the sitar is however relatively unknown. It is regarded as an instrument that came in from Central Asia. It may also have descended from the 10th century long lute of the temple sculptures.
The 16th century Sufi mystic Amir Khusrow has also had a major role in the development of the instrument.
About The Instructor


Having earned Master’s Degree in both Hindustani Vocals and Sitar, he has also held chair of the Principal of Manav Mandir Sangeet Vidyapeeth from 1964 to 2002.
What is my level of proficiency
The batches at Ekam Satt Academy are divided as per the proficiency of each student. For your own assessment, you can go through following guidelines:

Beginner

Intermediate
- Have correct hand grip and sitting position.
- Have correct tuning technique.
- Can play all notes and have correct string bending technique.
- Have basic knowledge of Hindustani Music.
- Can play and perform at least 3 Ragas.

Advance
- Fulfill all requirement of intermediate level.
- Free flowing hand technique.
- Can play at higher BPMs.
- Fluent with most of the Ragas.
- Can improvise on any form of music.
